He is considered a modern day Kirk he is very noble and straight talking so much so his enemies admire him. James never tries to let his emotions get the better of him but he knows thats what makes him human. He also likes to make sure his ship is a happy one.

Strength's: Strong physically and mentally. Does not suffer fools gladley. Very considerate of his crew. Weakness's: Can have his head turn by a pretty face. He does have a habit of going on away mission against Starfleet's regulation.

Born 2390 in London, United Kingdom he was born in tragic cuircumstances his mother died when he was a day old in a transporter accident and being that she was his only living relative he was raised by one of her friends the O'Brien's, they are a proud starfleet family both parents were in starfleet at some point in thier lives even his cousin Miles O'Brien was in starfleet at first as transpoter chief on the Enterprise-D then chief of operation's at DS9 then finally professor of engineering at starfleet academy.
James had a ususal human upbringing he was first into engineering and had several of his designs of starships looked at by starfleet command at the age of twelve as well as several designs for tricorders, phasers and other menagerie of equipment.
He exceled at engineering as well as science, diplomacy and command when he joined the academy in 2407 while there he mentored under Miles O'Brien and professor Julian Bashir in medical science.
James was also a member of red squad the elite academy group chosen by the chief of starfleet academy as the best to be future starship captain he also met a future Chief Medical Officer of his ship the USS Galen Jamie Tomas was conducting a Medical Seminar there and they became close friends after an incident with another academy student.
When he graduated from the academy in 2411 his first assignment was the USS Rutledge as a conn officer while there he found out a romulan spy and was given a commendation and promotion to full lieutenant and made chief conn officer as the previous one was implicated in the scandal.
While onboard the USS Rutledge he met and fell in love with a snart and beautifull Engineer called Smantha Carter they were engaged to be married but when they were on the USS Venus they were attacked by the Borg and their captain was injured James assumed command of the ship and managed to beat them but at a price his fiance was killed when they hit the deflector dish he still mourns her loss but hopes to fall in love again someday.
He soon left and went to the USS Endeavour as an aide to Admiral Wilkes and Flight Control Officer he had also saved the admirals life during a skirmish with a digruntled Tholian and was made XO and promoted to Lieutenant Commander.
James again was on the move when he heard an XO position had opened on the USS Venus and wanted to spread his wings and while there the Venus made first contact with 23 new races.
He eventually became Captain of the USS Venus and while under his command the Venus managed to survive an attack of a rogue Dominon Fleet that still felt angry about uts loss to the Federation and it was James intuition and leadership that managed to stop another all out war.
Starfleet Command could see something speacial in him wanted to give him a position as Captain of a vessel and O'Brien's own response was "If I am given a ship let me work up to being Captain of the starship Enterprise" as this was his ultimate dream.
He now Command the USS Galen where he asked for Lieutenant Jamie "JD" Tomas personally to be his Chief Medical Officer and Second Officer
